An exquisite pair of French 18ct yellow gold tassel earrings which were made circa 1870 and are a rare and exceptional find. In the Archaeological Revival style they have been created by a master craftsperson and feature miniature floral and leaf accents around the bell shaped tops and ultra fine wirework circles in imitation of the jewels found at burial sites across Italy and shown at museums across Europe. Jewels such as these would be sought after by any Etruscan Goddess. Read further on this subject here.
The tassels feature a remarkable 17 strands of fine gold chains, creating a shimmying snakey movement. On traditional long shepherd hooks fittings, they bear a clear French mark on the top ring.
In perfect condition; they measure two inches from the top of the wires.
