Dating to the 1880's this antique Silver locket has a sentimental message hidden in the meaning behind the striking emblem to the frontispiece; AEI stands for 'Amity, Eternity, Infinity' (taken from the Greek αεί meaning 'always' or 'ever') and symbolising never ending love, a fitting one for such a personal piece of jewellery. The frontispiece is created in a hand cut and hand engraved fashion and is very typical of the Gothic styling of the period.
This wonderful Victorian locket opens to hold two photographs complete with both frames. The locket is worn on the original decorative hand engraved Silver fancy link chain at 16 inches which contrasts strikingly with the plainness of the locket. The locket measures two inches lengthways.
