Fully hallmarked at Birmingham in 1884, this splendid Victorian Silver locket is so wonderfully decorative, with a central hand engraved panel showing a Swallow framed by molded beading in an Eastern influence design... the English Aesthetic Period to a tee! A range of techniques have been used to create the harmonious design, and slightly smaller than the usual Victorian locket, the original photographs remain inside.
Still in excellent condition despite 150 years, it measures two inches lengthwise without the bale and closes with a pleasing 'click' to keep those precious photographs safe. Measures 36mm by 27mm excluding the fancy bale.
