A rare and prestigious antique jewelled locket pendant in the mid 19th century Neo Renaissance style which was highly fashionable amongst the cognoscenti from around 1860-1880. The artisans making these jewels looked back to Tudor times to looks depicted in portraits of the day for inspiration and imbued the jewels with meaning, significance and mystical powers. This locket is typical in that it has very rich gemstones and bases the design around the centrepiece Pyrite speckled midnight blue Lapis Lazuli with Wild Pearls and olden Rose Cut Diamonds set at 'stations' around, accented with fine blue Enamel. Wholly hand crafted in rich 18ct Yellow Gold, the locket section to the reverse opens easily to hold your tiny treasure; so many layers of skill are combined in the making of this precious antique jewel.
A wonderful piece to add to your family collection, it is presented on an 18ct Gold Plated Silver belcher chain measuring 20 inches. The pendant measures one inch excluding the jewelled bale.
