Etruscan Revival Moonstone Goddess Cameo Pendant

A very fine example of the kind of jewels which were fashionable amongst the monied middle classes in the Archaeological Revivalist period circa 1860's/70's. Inspired by the displays from excavations in Italy which were shewn at museums across Europe and became an influence to artists to relearn the techniques of olden times. 

Capturing a mystical allure, the hand carved profile of an Etruscan goddess; we believe this could be a representation of Uni, who was the ancient goddess of marriage, fertility, family, and women in the Etruscan religion. Carved of Moonstone which itself has a strong link to feminine energies, she has a powerful presence and makes the most special amulet, mounted as she is in a decorative 15ct Gold anointed with harmonious wirework and grainti and laid over Gold which gives a warm glow to the carved gem.   

Converted from a stick pin in our workshop, we have used the pin for the ring to keep integrity to the whole. Measures a touch over one inch including the ring. Presented on a 16 inch antique 9ct Gold chain.
