An unusual and interesting vintage hand faceted octagonal purplish red Almandine Garnet mounted as a ring in rich solid 18ct Yellow Gold. We can't be sure of the origin but would say that at the time many gemstones which made their way into jewels in Britain had their origin in Sri Lanka or Ceylon as it was known then under British control.
We have a receipt for purchase dating to October 14th 1944 when it was purchased (secondhand) at 'The Old Curiosity Shop' in Epsom and is listed as being an 'Amethyst/Garnet in Indian Gold'. The ring size is a 'Q/8/17/57' as is but we can size up or down a few sizes for fit. The whole weighs 5.43 grams.
Most of our rings can be adjusted to fit for free, this can be done on purchase by making a note in the order form if you know the size, or at a later date if it is a gift.
