Victorian Carbuncle Garnet Diamond Star Pendant

A conversion from a brooch which itself likely once had an earlier incarnation, this 'Carbuncle' Garnet is surmounted by a six-pointed Star, an ancient symbol of divinity with meaning in many cultures. A wonderful talisman, the charming olden Diamonds are all hand cut in the form of a central old early brilliant and six rose cuts set in a greyed Silver Star. Just so charming to see under the lens...

One can see the remains of the brooch fitting to the reverse, all of rich 18ct yellow Gold and fitted with a bale made from an old stick pin (we like to recycle everything we possibly can). It measures a diameter of 16mm. We have paired her with a fancy link antique 9ct Gold rope style chain, complete with original hand made barrel clasp.
